PRIVATE FULL-DAY TOUR · UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE LANDSCAPE

A day in the world's most beautiful wine country.

Terraced vineyards. Historic quintas. A long lunch above the river. Porto to the Douro and back — the day trip you'll talk about for years.

80 km east of Porto · Worth every minute of the drive

The Douro Valley — breathtaking scenery, legendary wine.

The Douro Valley is one of the world's most spectacular wine regions, and arguably Portugal's single greatest day trip. Stretching east from Porto along the Douro River, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a landscape of steep terraced vineyards, ancient quintas (wine estates), and medieval villages reflecting in the river below.

Our private Douro Valley wine tour departs from your hotel in Porto and follows the scenic riverside road — the N222, regularly voted one of the world's most beautiful drives. Your expert guide reveals the secrets of Port wine production, from the ancient schist-stone terraces to the cellars where wine ages in wooden barrels for decades.

You'll visit two or more historic wine estates (quintas) for guided cellar tours and private wine tastings, enjoy a long gourmet lunch at an estate restaurant overlooking the valley, and have the option to cruise back on the Douro River as the sun sets over the vineyards.

Best time for the Douro Valley

Harvest Season (September–October) is the most spectacular time to visit, the quintas are buzzing with grape picking, the hillsides glow in autumn gold, and you may even get to participate in the harvest.

Spring (April–May) brings lush green terraces, blooming almond trees, and mild weather, perfect for photography and outdoor lunches.

Summer (June–August) can be very hot inland but the valley light is extraordinary, and the quintas welcome visitors year-round. We always have shade and cold wine ready.
