Porto Airport, officially named Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport (IATA: OPO), is one of Europe's most efficient airports, and a gateway into Portugal for visitors from around the world. The airport has a single terminal with a straightforward arrivals hall, making it easy to collect your bags and find your driver.

Private transfer vs. taxi vs. Uber in Porto
Porto has taxis and Uber, but neither offers the certainty and quality of a pre-booked private transfer, especially after a transatlantic flight. Taxis at Porto Airport can be unpredictable in price. Uber requires a working local data connection to set up and sometimes surges in price during busy periods.

Getting around Porto
Porto's city centre is compact and very walkable, but the hills can be steep and the cobblestones uneven. For day trips to the Douro Valley, Aveiro, Braga, or Lisbon, private transport is by far the most comfortable and flexible option.
Porto has a metro system connecting the airport to the city centre in about 30 minutes, but it requires navigating two connections and may not stop near your hotel. For travelers with heavy luggage or arriving late at night, the metro is not ideal.
We recommend booking your airport transfer in advance, especially in summer peak season (June–September), when demand for quality private transfers is high and last-minute bookings may not be available.
